Herb infused olive oil for dipping bread

by

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Mountain Rose Herbs and asked to test out a few of their Epicurean Organics products and try out a couple of recipes to see what I thought.

Umm…. yes please!

I love the products from MRH and have purchased many, if not most, of my herbs and spices from them for the last five years or so. I’m always pleased with the quality products they offer and usually stock up twice a year. Though I had not yet tried products from their Epicurean Organics Collection.

“Our gourmet seasoning blends, artisan salts, whole peppercorns, and fine culinary oils make the perfect choice for experienced chefs and kitchen enthusiasts alike. We use only the freshest, organically grown botanical ingredients to produce these outstanding culinary delights. From lavender accented Herbs de Provence to bold Hawaiian sea salts and pure emerald pumpkin seed oil, these exceptional ingredients are sure to enhance any delicious creation!

The farmers who grow our herbs and spices are given full negotiation rights in determining the price of their harvests under our Good Trade Program. This far exceeds traditional fair trade standards – which is good for the growers and good for you! Mountain Rose Herbs also donates 2% of the proceeds from this line to the Organic Consumers Association in thanks for their important work. This helps support the organic movement with every meal you lovingly prepare.

Beautifully packaged in recycled glass bottles with post-consumer waste paper labels and original botanical watercolors, the Epicurean Organics collection will bring elegant charm and exquisite flavors to your spice rack. ” -MRH

I was sent the following products to review:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Hemp seed oil
  • Black Lava Salt (so cool!)
  • Himalayan Pink Salt
  • Lemon pepper seasoning
  • Italian seasoning

My mission was to make herb infuse oils for dipping bread in to. Such an easy thing to do and a great party or pre-dinner food!

Except I failed miserably when I made the bread. Of course I thought it would be a great time to test out something new with our gluten-free bread we make occasionally…and it was a huge fail.

Luckily for me it still had good taste and texture, even if it did completely fall and look like the worst loaf of bread ever.

I ended up using the Olive Oil with Himalayan Pink Salt and Italian Seasoning and the Hemp Seed Oil with Lemon Pepper and Black Lava Salt. (the latter was my favorite!) I went by taste, but used about 1/4 cup of oil, one teaspoon of salt, and one tablespoon of seasoning.

As always, I’m impressed with their quality products. Everything tasted as it should when you use quality, fresh herbs. But more than that I respect how they purchase these ingredients. And I love to support companies who do things right.

(I usually buy my fertility tea and elderberry syrup herbs from them along with my favorite pantry staples.)

Hi! I entered! I like your website and your book very much, but I didn’t like naturally knocked up on Facebook, because I thought there might be questions if we were trying to have a baby. But I really do like naturallyknockedup.com!!

@Kristie, LOL. I get that a lot! I’ve thought of starting an incognito facebook page just for that reason. 🙂 Or if FB allowed us to change the names of our pages I might just have it as my name instead of the blog name. Maybe one day they’ll give us that option…….

I love your recipes and am hoping to try the gluten free bread with the seasoned oils. I try to provide cheap raw food ideas, and odd remedies on my website, but I love to try your tasty dishes. I shared your gluten free cookies on my you tube, and everyone raved about it.
